Lac du Der celebrates cycling! A not-to-be-missed event for 2-wheeled and 3-wheeled enthusiasts.

The idea is simple:get on your bike and follow us for a beautiful ride around Lac du Der. But there are a lot of things and little details that go into this event, which we at the Office de Tourisme cherish.

That’s why, to give you as much information as possible about the day, we’ve put together a list of questions and answers. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us!

  • When?

    The Festival du Vélo takes place in June, usually on Saturday.

  • Where?

    The event takes place on Lac du Der, at the Station Nautique de Giffaumont-Champaubert.

  • How?

    To take part in the walks and hikes, you need to register on the day at theLac du Der Tourist Office.

  • What's on the agenda for the day?

    The program is rich and there’s something for everyone.

    By bike – 3 circuits are proposed:

    • Around the lake – 38 kms
    • Two “road” circuits – 77 kms and 95 kms

    Mountain biking – 2 circuits of 15 kms and 40 kms.

    Those who prefer walking are not left out, as you have the option of 2 walks, one of 8 kms and the other of 15 kms.

    All in all, there are 7 circuits to choose from, depending on your preferences.

    Then, “after the effort, the comfort! On your return, you’ll be offered a friendly drink and a few treats.

    In addition to the rides and hikes, you’ll find a variety of events organized by local associations, including bike recovery workshops, bike repair and maintenance tips, exhibitions and a bike market. Electric-assist bike demonstrations and a road safety workshop are also planned.

  • By whom?

    The Festival du Vélo has been organized by a number of associations. The rides are co-organized by several of them. Activities are organized by the Der’Ailleurs association and the Maison pour un Accueil Solidaire in Saint-Dizier.

Focus on the Der'Ailleurs association

The aim of Der’ailleurs is to create social links, promote environmentally-friendly soft mobility and offer a low-cost alternative to mobility problems.

The workshop recovers bicycles from private individuals, companies and scrap yards. Der’ailleurs offers a repair workshop for private individuals. In addition to mechanical help, it is possible tobuy spare parts (brake pads, brakes, cables, tires, etc.) at very low prices. It’s also possible to buy a refurbished, fully serviced bike, complete with lighting.

Rent your bike

Don’t have a bike or can’t transport one? No problem, there are plenty of bike rental companies in and around Lac du Der offering you a multitude of solutions. Electrically-assisted bikes, mountain bikes, children’s seats and trailers for your four-legged friends are just some of the options available to get you and your little tribe off to a great start.
