Picnic at Lac du Der 3 ideas for a successful picnic

Whether you’re with family, friends, lovers or solo, picnicking is a simple and convivial occasion. Discover the best spots around Lac du Der for a successful Champagne picnic! On a beach, with a unique viewpoint, the choices are numerous…

Picnic in the vineyards

After enjoying a stroll through the vineyards or a visit to a Champagne cellar, why not extend the100% Champagne experience and take a picnic break in the vineyards? Amidst the Coteaux Vitryats or the vineyards of the Cote des Bar, the countryside unfolds before you, dotted with bocage fields and cereal plains, punctuated by bell towers.

Landscapes to enjoy in good company and with products for bon vivants like a foie gras terrine or duck rillettes accompanied by a good Champagne*.

Our favorite spots: La loge de vigne “Fenêtre sur Champagne” in Vanault-le-Châtel / L’arbre du Mont de Fourche in Vitry-en-Perthois

Picnic in the wild

At the water’s edge or at the bend in a hiking trail, picnics are moments of peace and quiet, far from the crowds.

The lake is a protected natural area that is home to over 310 species of birds, some of them rare, 40 species of mammals and over 200 different plant species. Protecting the nature that lives around you is a matter of course, and what could be more natural than to leave for lunch with a zero-waste basket?

At Lac du Der, you can fill your basket with reusable preserved farmhouse pork meats, cloth-wrapped bread, “hard” cutlery, or our Lac du Der Ecocups to enjoy the delicious, thirst-quenching beers of Nuisement*.

After your meal, a walk along the marked trails is a must. Don’t forget your binoculars for birdwatching, or better still, plan an outing accompanied by an ornithologist guide who will show you the kingfisher perched in front of the observatory.

Fun snack at the Station Nautique

With a view over Lac du Der, and just a stone’s throw from the playground, sit down comfortably on a picnic table at the Station Nautique or in the grassy areas to share a tasty moment.

A lovely flaky brioche with honey from the lake, crisp Rose de Reims cookies with white powdered sugar whiskers, all accompanied by a local apple juice. Once the picnic is over, the family outing continues on the water or in the trees with an accrobranche course.
