For one day 3 typical days to live to the full

To help you choose the right program, we’ve put together 3 typical days. All you have to do is choose!

We recommend to satisfy your desires

Lac du Der, the jewel of the Champagne region, offers a myriad of activities and landscapes to discover. Nestled in the heart of nature, this man-made lake is one of Europe’s largest reservoirs, attracting thousands of visitors every year in search of relaxation, adventure and discovery.

Whether you’re a water sports enthusiast, a bird-watching enthusiast or simply looking for a peaceful moment by the water, Lac du Der has something for everyone. Here are three typical days to make the most of this magnificent place.

Day 1 Cultural and heritage discovery

If you’re a first-time visitor, we recommend that you start your day with a visit to the Village Musée du Der in Sainte-Marie-du-Lac, where you’ll discover thehistory of the Lac du Der, from past to present.

At lunchtime, you can enjoy a picnic in this green setting.
Or head to Giffaumont-Champaubert for lunch, with a magnificent view over Lac du Der.

After lunch, there are plenty of options!

Fancy a bit of exercise? Explore the shores of Lac du Der by bike or on foot, in complete safety.

Looking for peace and quiet? Climb aboard a boat and let us guide you through a rich and varied landscape.

On your return, take a stroll around the resort, enjoy an ice cream, or find a souvenir to offer (or to treat yourself to!) in the resort stores or at the Tourist Office.

Day 2 Sporty and fun

If you’re with the whole family, what better way to enjoy the beauty of our destination than aboard the tourist train, departing from the Giffaumont-Champaubert nautical station, while learning about the history of Lac du Der.

Then head off for an adventure in the trees and indulge in the joys ofaccrobranche (tree climbing) in the heart of nature. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, you’ll find a range of different courses, even for children aged 3 and over. Just equip yourself, follow the instructions and off you go!

After a hard day’s work, enjoy a picnic on the grass, in the shade of a tree or on one of the tables provided.

Or opt for a tasty meal on the terrace of one of the resort’s restaurants. From traditional fare to fast food, there’s something for everyone.

Then it’s off to the beach! Swimming and diving in the lake, playing on the beach or in the sand, lazing around… There’s something for everyone on the shores of Lac du Der.

Didn’t bring your ball, bucket, spade, etc.? Don’t worry, you’ll find everything you need in our shops.

Day 3 Explore Nature and Relax

If you’re a nature-watcher, we’d like to invite you to watch the rising of the Sandhill Cranes. You’ll have to get up a little early, but the spectacle is well worth the effort!

There are two options: you can go and watch the cranes on your own from one of the dedicated observation sites, or you can ask an ornithologist to tell you all about this emblematic bird of Lac du Der.

Then continue your morning with a short stroll along the dykes to admire the scenery and the many other birds (herons, egrets, geese, ducks, etc.) that flock alongside the Sandhill Crane.

Dress warmly and don’t forget your cameras to capture the beauty of the moment.

Go and warm up over breakfast

Then continue your morning with a short stroll along the dykes to admire the scenery and the many other birds (herons, egrets, geese, ducks, etc.) that live alongside the Sandhill Crane.

When hunger strikes… You can continue to enjoy the fresh air by packing a gourmet picnic basket, or head for one of the restaurants at the Giffaumont-Champaubert water sports resort for a nice, warm meal, a snack on the lake’s northern basin at the port of Nuisement, or a crêpe at Sainte-Marie-du-Lac.

After lunch, enjoy a ride on the Train aux Oiseaux, which will take you on a tour of the history of Lac du Der.

And if you feel like it, you can also watch the “gray lady” go into the sunset – it’s just as impressive!
