In addition to the incredible size of some of the catches for which the lake is renowned, the early opening of the lake is also a major factor in making Lac du Der a unique fishing spot in France. In fact, this special feature allows you to fish for pike a week before the national opening date.
Pike caught in Lac du Der are not far off the national record. In 2021, one angler managed to reel in a specimen measuring 1.23 meters and weighing 13.5 kilos!
